Staff at Hilton Darwin hotel were very nice and accommodating. Special thanks to Thomas at the Concierge/Reception area for being always very nice and helpful. Rooms overlooking the waterfront are definitely better and one thing I definitely did not like about the hotel is the frosted glass door to the bathroom. I mean, if you're staying in the room with someone, you'll have very little privacy inside the bathroom if the lights are on. It's a sliding door. We had to change the room because the first room was not cleaned well from the previous guests, however the second room was fine. I would stay here again, the location is great and they also have valet parking for $35 a day.As much as I wanted to give it 5 star rating, at the check out we find out that all credit card transactions are subject to 1.5% surcharge. Now, this is first time ever that a hotel would have a surcharge on credit cards. Is there a point having a credit card anymore or should I look next time for a hotel that doesn't have a surcharge. Did not expect this from Hilton.
Another hotel that Hilton bought that only updated some features. Decent safe, hotel. Nice decor, bathroom shower was unique, staff was friendly. Huge buffet breakfast selection I enjoyed that. No free parking. No Internet (without having to sign up for Hilton club). Walking distance to a Darwin nightlife.
Happy hour drink on a Friday night with a girlfriend. Order 2 cocktails and choose 2 share plate bar snacks for free. Table service wgich was nice, very pleasant server. Cocktails watery, which we had drunk by the time the food arrived. Very quiet.
Excellent service. Decent pool. Gym a bit small but equipment is in good condition. Building and interiors are a bit tired at time of writing. A good option if you need to be in town. Lots of excellent restaurants and cafes nearby. Decent bar & lounge. More convenient than the newer hotels on the Waterfront. But just a short walk (10 min) to the Waterfront.
