Wicked no longer deserves its bad press. Coming from Paris, I didn't know about Wicked more than any other renter. The salesperson, Camille, made me great offers for a week rental in Darwin and 12 days on the east-coast. As I spoke to local travel agencies (looking for excursions) they warned me about the bad reputation of Wicked, stating that they don't work with them anymore. I confirmed this by looking on the internet. Getting cold feet, I took only the rental in Darwin with Wicked, hedging my risk on my entire trip by choosing a different rental agency on the East coast.My experience was excellent. The car was in excellent condition and new from this year. Pictures attached. Price was much better than competition (but you have to clean the vehicle - take time for it). Maybe it depends on locations, then Wicked Darwin is great. Their Wicked is by far above the sad reputation. I would rent again from them, and I'm sad to see they have a sticky bad reputation.Rental from August 11 2018 / August 18 2018. 4x4 with double rooftents. The front tent is especially convenient. The only drawback of this rental was the absence of real fridge, but the coolbox was good quality. Ice lasted for three days but things had to be placed in freezing-bags as everything starts to float in the melted ice-cubes at some point.
You should rent this camper with Wicked Camper. Great experience ever
NEVER RENT ANY VAN FROM THIS COMPANY !!! .... We BROKE DOWN in the desert of Nullarbor only 3 days after picking up our campervan. Their Road Assistance asked us to PAY for the MECHANICAL FEES (no jokes)!! Their customer service do not deal with complaint and the director of the company (John Webb) simply did not answered to our email. If you have any issue with them the entire company waits for you to go back to your home country without reimbursing you !!! So one of our relative had to take them to court (only possible in QLD) to get our money back !!!! It took up to 3 months but we WON !! They are absolutely dishonest, I have never seen that in my all life! BOYCOTT THEM BIG TIME !!!!
DO NOT USE. High mileage vehicles not fit for purpose, particularly long drives across Australia. No orientation of the vehicle at all, and no advise at all on driving, the roads, the hazards or what to do in emergency. Standard hire stuff really. Please check throughly the safety records of all of these types of companies before you book. Safety is paramount. And dont be talked into the extra expensive insurance, virtually useless after all the waivers in the contract. Questionable practise. In my opinion.
Better than its reputation. Newer cars without graffiti, still had some of the old ones though. Got an free upgrade because there was an issue with the one I should have had, had to wait an extra 30 minutes, but still much faster than Apollo. Every car I saw that left the place had been checked in the shop.
